Introduction As part of the federal requirements for states’ receiving funding under Phase 2 of the State Fiscal Stabilization Funds Program, all school districts in New Jersey are providing information to the public on procedures they use to evaluate teachers and principals. The information presented below will help you understand NECCS’s policies and procedures for evaluating teachers an Principal and Director of Education Evaluation and Review The Principal will be reviewed separately by the Board of Trustees, based on the responsibilities in the job description. The Principal will evaluate the Director of Education and all other staff. Evaluations and reviews of the Principal and Director of Education and Learning will occur annually using the Council of School Supervisors and Administrators Principal Performance Review. An important element of each evaluation will be the school’s progress made towards achieving the goals set forth herein. Teacher Evaluation and Review Teachers will be observed regularly by the Principal and given both written and oral feedback. At Newark Educators’ Community Charter School we believe that the best method for teacher evaluation is to be in classrooms on a regular basis providing teachers with ongoing feedback. Ongoing observations conducted by both the Principal and Director of Education and Learning will be informal meetings and conversations which function as instructional supports for teachers. The Principal and/or Director of Education and Learning will meet with teachers during bi-monthly grade level meetings with the specific objective to review student assessments and student work, and use the gathered data to inform instruction and planning. The purpose of these meetings is to reinforce theNewark Educators’ Community Charter School professional development goals..
